It’s a tiny blurb but non the less I’m really proud that TPT got a mention in this year’s Big Black Book by Esquire. Six years ago when I started TPT, my assistant at the time bought me a copy of the 2006 Big Black Book and mentioned that it had lots of cool watches inside. After six years of work, amazingly I’m in it. ;)

As the automotive world converges in Pebble Beach/ Carmel this week for the most important and spectacular assemblage of vintage and modern autos seen anywhere, Fourtane Estate Jewelers and Ten Past Ten Timepieces welcomes all VRF Members/Watch enthusiast to join us for a hosted gathering of vintage Rolex enthusiasts and collectors. This year we have several guests coming from all around the world, including the legendary John Goldberger, author of the 100 Superlative Rolex book. In addition to many interesting watches, this will be your first opportunity in the USA to view in person the masterpiece that is the ULTIMATE ROLEX DAYTONA book by Pucci Papaleo. The gathering will start at 6pm, and will be hosted at Fourtane Estate Jewelers, on the corner of Ocean Ave. and Lincoln Ave. in downtown Carmel, CA. While RSVP is not necessary, please email me if possible so that we can plan catering and security accordingly.

I'm in my mid twenties, starting law school this fall, and looking for something that I can wear casually but that can also work under a suit. My ideal price range is $200-500. Currently I'm looking at getting a Hamilton Khaki Field Auto with a metal strap but was wondering if you had any suggestions! Thanks!
Hi, and thank you for your kind words.
Unfortunately, I’m not so sure that you’ll be able to find something in that price range from Rolex. That being said, there are many watches that are nice and fit in that $200-500 price range. A suggestion from me would be a vintage Omega dress watch, or maybe a Seamaster. There were many different models and many can be found quite reasonably. Its a good start into the world of vintage watches. If you can stretch your budget to around $1000, you’d be able to find a nice vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual on a leather strap.
